TWO Major Milestones

In the last 14 hours we have achieved two major milestones (well I think they are major anyway), but before I get to that a little update on how the twins are doing…

In a word GREAT!  We had a scan on Monday with the OB and it was just awesome to see the little guys again and how they are growing!  WOW they really are getting so big now and defintiely don’t look nearly as alien, in fact look perfectly human and gorgeous!  Latest picture has been added here (aren’t you proud of me for getting the pic up so soon!)  Both are growing great guns but with Little Girl still ahead of our Boy, she is weighing in at 417g and he was 370g.  For a change they seemed to have each found their own space and weren’t beating each other up, but it was great to see them wriggling around.

Speaking of wriggling around it is total bliss I can feel them moving more and more and best of all it no longer hurts (little girl has removed herself from my cervix and only gives it an occassional punch or kick now).  It is so weird it went form a very occassional sense of movement to now feeling them move failry regularly throughout the day and last night even during the night.  Every movement just brings a silly yummy grin to my face and I find myself just having to chat to them and let them know that I have noticed them and how awesome it is that they are keeping me posted that they are doing well.  With them each being in a separate space it is great because I can mostly tell exactly which one is interacting with Mommy.  I love it and I love them and this whole experience just becomes more and more real.

Since the movement has become more often and pronounced I have been waiting to share it with Chris, it has been the one thing I have fantasised about since starting the whole TTC journey.  I have tried picturing Chris’ face when he put his hand on my belly and felt HIS children move in there.  And last night at last I saw it.  We have tried a few times, but they haven’t been co-operating at all.  Then last night we got the doppler out (yes we arre still using it to hear their little hearts pounding away) and afterwards we lay for a while with Chris’ hand firmly pushed into my right side (where I feel most of the movement because both placentas are on the left) and there it was – a little kick for him.  One of the kids said ‘Hi’ to Daddy.  And there was that face I have fantasised about… the crinkle around the eyes as the reality sunk in.  Total and utter bliss, heaven on earth to see my man’s face like that!

Then milestone number two this morning, I do a regular check on my breasts to see how they are coming along, checking for tenderness and changes in nipple colour and size.  It all seems to bizarre that my breasts will actually feed these babies, that these huge lumps of fat that I have carried around for the last few decades can have a real purpose and be any good at it.  So this morning, doing my regular check, I got a little fluid out one nipple!  OMG!  My body is actually doing what it’s meant to, it is getting ready to feed my children.  WOW!  I of course sat here and had a little cry of joy.

Oh and morning sickness… at almost 21 weeks I have only puked once in the last 7 days!  Dare I say that maybe, just maybe… no I’m not that brave yet.

Isn’t the movement just the BEST THING EVER!!!! I am still waiting for DH to feel a real kick…everytime he puts his hand on them they go still lol! I think they are playing a game with Daddy. I wish they would move all day.

I bet feeling those babies moving around in there is the BEST, for both mommy and daddy in waiting. Glad everything is going good. Isn’t it a great feeling when your body does what it’s supposed to? So happy for you.

i’ve been feeling the spooradic kick for a few weeks now, and can’t wait until it is strong enough for my husband to feel.

and omg my boobs have been making their selves known for some time now! Complete with little balls of dried excretions waiting for me at every inspection. CRAZY!!!!!!

Oh how I’d love to sit down and have a cuppa with you – and talk forever about how crazy awesome this experience is!

Oh how fantastic Chris felt a hello kick!!!! We find it SO hard for Scot to feel Sparky; it’s not like he keeps kicking in the same place long enough – plus with an anterior placenta often what feels like a huge kick to me is just too cushioned by the placenta. Now that Sparky’s hiccuping, Scott can often feel that. 😀 So happy the kids continue on, happy and helthy and not bickering so much. 😉

  7. Glad all is going so perfectly well with your LOs and with your relationship !! Enjoy, enjoy this beautiful time in your lives !!

I’m so jealous! I really hope to be where you are soon. So does it change for the dad when he feels that kick for the first time? Does it suddenly become real for him too?

Hi! Visiting from ICLW. I love that we subfertiles are so enchanted by our bodies after finally reaching the “other side” (though I never reached pregnancy, I was even enchanted by the symptoms I had during a chemical). It truly is miraculous! Congrats to you. 🙂

Happy ICLW!!! I am so happy to hear that the twins are doing well! That is such an exciting time. For me, when I felt my twins move for the first time, it was pure bliss. And the look on my husbands face was unforgettable. Congratulations and I hope you get over that morning sickness soon!

Ah yes…the movement is the most amazing feeling! Just wait for all the activity when they get a few weeks bigger. Holy cow! It felt like they played soccer all the time in there! So glad things are going so well for you all. 🙂

What amazing milestones to reach! I hope the next 19 weeks or so just fly by and your babies are safe and sound in your arms.

Hi. I’m here via ICLW. Those are two great milestones indeed! I can’t wait to experience them myself someday. May you have a continued happy and healthy pregnancy without much more morning sickness.

  20. Your description of your husband’s face brought tears to my eyes. I’m so ready to get a BFP and reach that stage where I feel my own baby inside of me moving around and having the opportunity for my husband feel his child move. I can’t wait. Congratulations on your twins! I hope the next weeks fly by for you.

  21. Hi stopping by from ICLW. Glad to hear things are progressing well with your twins. Good luck and have fun getting the nursery set up. Very exciting time for you.
